Nature Nine Naturals, founded by Rama Krishna, was established in 2025. Having been active in Natural colour exports, Nature Nine Naturals was established to bring value creation to India
Rather than continuing to only export raw materials, a processing plant was set up to produce natural colour extracts.
Our plant located in the heart of the primary region for Annatto cultivation in the country.

Annatto seeds come from the Achiote tree (Bixa Orellana). Other names for Annatto include Rocou, Djafrana, or Urucum. These seeds contain a reddish-orange colorant known to be primarily used in Foods but also in cosmetics and textiles. Annatto trees are a native tree to the amazon basin found in Latin America, Africa, the Caribbean and Even Asia.
The major producers of Annatto Seeds in the world are Peru, Brazil, Kenya, Costa Rica and more recently Cote D’Ivoire. Peru and Kenya alone are responsible known to be responsible for over 50% of the worlds Annatto Supply (seeds and annatto derivative products). Other countries known to have Annatto Seeds include India, Colombia, Venezuela, the Philippines, Vietnam and Burkina Faso.
Trees can reach heights between 5-10 meters and contain spikey pods which are the shell housing the annatto seeds generally yielding an average of 1000kg per/acre (varies around the world). During the last decade more and more plants have been set up to process Annatto seeds in these different countries. Prior to this, the trade was primarily in raw Annatto Seeds.
